How Two Sigma usually runs it for applied AI and LLM engineer roles.

  1. Online assessment

    Focus: Coding, data manipulation

    A HackerRank-style test that leans on Python and pandas data work and statistics as much as on algorithms, including writing simple statistical methods by hand.

  2. Recruiter and technical phone screen

    Focus: Fit, coding or stats

    A short recruiter call on background and target role, then about an hour of live coding for engineers or statistics and probability for quant and data candidates.

  3. Technical rounds (engineering track)

    Focus: DSA, OO design

    Three 60-minute sessions in a shared code editor on data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design, sometimes with a systems-design exercise, graded on coding, testing and design.

  4. Technical rounds (quant / data science track)

    Focus: Modeling, statistics

    Interviews on open-ended data analysis, coding and algorithms, and statistics or your research area, where framing the problem, choosing features and validating results matter more than a fancy model.

  5. Experience and hiring manager rounds

    Focus: Project depth, fit

    If the technical feedback is positive, roughly hour-long follow-ups with managers and senior staff on your past projects and contributions.
